Mark Wahlberg talks on the importance of not “denying” his religious beliefs.

Mark Wahlberg prefers to keep his personal relationship with God a secret while publicly displaying his Catholic faith by putting an ash cross on his forehead to mark the start of Lent.

The 51-year-old clarified to Savannah Guthrie, her co-anchor, that having a balanced conversation about religion is important.

Though I do not want to force my opinions on other people, I think it is wrong to keep quiet about them. A bigger transgression would be if I did not share my religion. It might not be common in my field, but I think it is necessary to voice my beliefs. At the same time, I understand how important it is to value and appreciate my friends’ many backgrounds and worldviews.

Mark Wahlberg emphasized that he and his wife, Rhea Durham, have four children together, and he approaches them all equally.

I do not push it on them,” he continued. But they understand that Dad can not begin the day without Mass, Scripture reading, or prayer. Ideally, rather than feeling pushed, kids will think, “If it works for Dad, maybe it works for us too,” and they will be pulled toward it organically.

I do not force my religion on other people, but I also do not do it. This offense is more severe.

Wahlberg spoke on his approach as a guest narrator and paid ambassador for the Catholic prayer app Hallow, delving deeper into the Lenten season and the fasting periods linked with it during his chat with Savannah.

Wahlberg emphasizes the various aspects of fasting and stresses the significance of taking other circumstances into account if one is having difficulty eating. He makes the argument that since God is aware of these things, it is imperative that you be aware of what you should avoid.

It is well known that there are some actions that cause us to feel guilty and less than our best selves. As a result, it is critical that we are able to set undesirable behaviors aside and concentrate on developing constructive habits rather than destructive ones. I will be sticking to a single meal every Friday leading up to Good Friday, even if fasting may have drawbacks like giving up meat for the day.

In addition, Wahlberg will guide participants through illuminating lessons on the discipline of fasting as part of the Pray40 Lent Challenge, which can be accessed on the Hallow app.

He believes that by making the commitment to overcome the challenges of Lent, people become “improved versions of themselves.”

That is what he has noticed, at least from his own perspective.

He said, “I have always found discipline to be very important.” When I switched from music to movies, I found I needed more discipline, and this discipline has helped me in many ways. I have seen great benefits from it, and I am excited to share this knowledge with others—whether it is through fasting, increasing physical activity, reducing other distractions, or spending more time in prayer and introspection. These procedures are necessary.

When asked to summarize his religious views, Wahlberg said, “It embraces everything.”

He continued, “It has given me many opportunities.” It is obvious that God did not come to save the good. He arrived to save the transgressors. We all want to become well, and by focusing on my faith, I have been able to do so.
