Ronald Howard was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on March 1, 1954, and went on to become a well-known Hollywood actor.

Howard began his performing career at a very young age! In his debut film, Frontier Woman, he played a baby of only eighteen months. Then, on his second birthday, he made his stage debut in a play called The Seven Year Itch.

His path as a celebrity began soon after the red-haired freckled boy rose to stardom on The Andy Griffith Show, which ran from 1960 to 1968.

Howard had the full support of his parents, who were also employed in the entertainment industry, when he portrayed Opie, the character’s son, at this period.

You recall how we used to say, ‘It is entirely up to you, but you can try if you want to?’ “Well, once you start, there is no turning back,” Howard remarked, recalling a conversation he had with his parents in the past. “You have to stick with this show; you do not have to participate in other ones if you do not feel like it.”

Howard says, “At that point, it was evident that I was having fun and performing well at it,” clarifying that he received the message from his parents.

He was actually really good at it, and he was on the verge of becoming extremely famous.

“Happy Days” with Howard

In addition to his role in The Andy Griffith Show, Howard appeared in the highly successful box office hit The Music Man in 1962.

His acting talent was evident from an early age, and he shot to fame in the 1973 film American Graffiti. Stars like Cindy Williams, Richard Dreyfuss, and Harrison Ford were involved in this movie; he would subsequently collaborate with Cindy Williams once again.

He was cast as Richie Cunningham in Garry Marshall’s new series Happy Days in 1974. From 1974 till 1984, everyone could watch this show on television.

The TV series gave rise to a number of well-known spin-offs, such as Mork & Mindy, starring Robin Williams as the adored Orkan Mork, and Laverne & Shirley, starring Penny Marshall, the sister of one of the primary actors.

Sweetheart from high school

Prior to receiving a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the endearing adolescent on Happy Days in 1970, Howard got to know Cheryl Alley, his high school sweetheart, who he married in 1975.

She was the only person for me when I met her. People was told by the Da Vinci Code director, “She is really encouraging and has always supported me.” We have remained compatible despite a wide range of circumstances.

Celebrating 50 years of memories with Cheryl, Howard—who won an Oscar for directing A Beautiful Mind—posted on Instagram about their first date anniversary.

When Cheryl and I went on our first date on November 1, 1970, he gave me a picture of himself wearing socks with Cheryl’s face on them. “We went to the now-closed Barnone’s Pizza in Toluca Lake and enjoyed some pizza after seeing Stanley Kramer’s It is a Mad Mad Mad World reissued. What a memorable start, eh?

“We are going to drive the identical ’70 VW Bug that I used to pick up Cheryl 50 years ago,” he said, discussing their plans for the day. It is in fantastic condition, just like us!

His “lucky charm,” Cheryl made several cameos in Howard’s productions, including a self-starring role in the comedic television series Arrested Development, which Howard produced and narrated.

Ron called Cheryl his “lucky charm” and revealed that is why she appears in all of his films in a Television Academy interview.

He said, “There was a period when I became quite paranoid about making sure she appears, as if I had to see her in every scene.” She must be included, even if her appearances do not have to be significant ones.

In addition to being a bit of a lucky charm for her spouse, Cheryl has written books. She holds a master’s degree in screenwriting and a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

The well-known pair is parents to four children: a son named Reed, twin girls Paige and Jocelyn, and a daughter named Bryce. Together, they have six grandchildren.

Actor Bryce is well-known for his roles in films including The Help and Jurassic World. Conversely, Paige’s cinematic career began in 2009 with the release of Adventureland. She has also starred in other movies, including Collection and The Employer.

Reed plays golf professionally, and Jocelyn, Paige’s twin sister, keeps to herself.

The key to eternal life

As their 49th anniversary approaches on June 7, the Emmy Award-winning producer says that “communication” is the secret to their enduring love.

Howard said to People, “When people inquire about how you handled something, I inform them that there is no unique technique. Communication is essential. You truly must be able to communicate effectively and manage difficult conversations in a constructive manner. Additionally, a certain amount of chance is required because you truly can not control whether individuals will connect or not.
