Vitoria Mario, 18, wants to be a mathematician, but her inability to pay for college has prevented her from pursuing her dream. She is originally from Portugal, but four years ago, after her father passed away, she came to Tottenham, UK, to live with relatives while her mother remained in Portugal. She had tried and failed multiple times to get help, so she went to the GoFundMe website with the goal of raising over £40,000 (more than 1.2 billion VND) for living expenses, supplies, and tuition.
Inspired by Vitoria’s narrative, Taylor Swift made the decision to donate £23,000 to her campaign. Swift wrote in her statement, “Vitoria, I read your story online, and it truly inspires people because of your passion and your efforts to make your dreams a reality.
